CFC Urges Go Slow Approach on U.S. Supreme Court Nomination
The Christian Family Coalition issued the following statement regarding President Barack Obama's first U.S. Supreme Court nomination, Sonia Sotomayor.

"According to Americans United for Life, Sotomayor upheld a ban on federal funds going to abortion providers overseas.  "The Supreme Court has made clear that the government is free to favor the anti-abortion [pro-life] position over the pro-choice position, and can do so with public funds," Sotomayor wrote in the decision.  She has also ruled in favor of anti-abortion (pro-life) protesters who sued West Hartford, CN, claiming that police there used excessive force against them at a demonstration."

"Therefore, while we are not prepared to believe that Justice Sotomayor is pro-life, we are continuing to conduct our research on a variety of issues, most notably abortion, and will encourage Senators to directly ask the question on whether or not she believes that the constitution guarantees a right to privacy which includes abortion."
