MIAMI 08/19/2010 -The Christian Family Coalition recommends Miami-Dade County Commissioner Javier Souto in Couty Commission District 10. Javier Souto has been an outstanding public servant since he was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1984 and continuing when voters promoted him to the State Senate in 1988 where he served until 1992.

Since April, 1993, Commissioner Javier Souto has served on the Board of Miami-Dade County Commissioners where he has made the tough calls on matters ranging from zoning for churches to religious liberty and the protection of marriage.  In 1998, and then again 2000, Commissioner Souto courageously and valiantly voted AGAINST the County's hateful "sexual orientation" ordinance which promotes discrimination against people of faith and denies funding to highly respectable organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America.

Furthermore, in 2008, Commissioner Souto stood up for marriage in Florida, when he voted AGAINST the county's so-called "domestic partnership" ordinance which violates Florida's Defense of Marriage Act (D.O.M.A.) by giving homosexual sex partners of County employees the same taxpayer-funded benefits as the legitimate spouses of County employees.

As if all of this were not enough, Commissioner Souto was also the author of the Shannon Melendi Act which protects our children from sexual predators, wrote laws to protect our residential communities, schools and parks from adult and pornographic relate businesses, drafted laws prohibiting the sale of drug related paraphernalia, sponsored laws to protect residential neighborhoods from houses that are converted into marijuana grow houses and drug laboratories, author of the County’s Noise Ordinances which were recently upheld by the United States Federal Court of Appeals, and finally, sponsored law allowing police to arrest anyone drinking alcoholic beverage within 100 feet of convenience store, gas station or liquor store.

"There can be no doubt that Commissioner Souto has earned the trust and respect of not only his colleagues on the County Commission, but his constituents as well, he deserves to be re-elected to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners and as a voter in the district, I will cast my ballot for Javier Souto by pressing #138", stated Anthony Verdugo, Founder and Executive Director, Christian Family Coalition.
